Text input widget placeholder text showing {{me.text}} instead of placeholder text

Recently ran into this issue. The text input widget should have placeholder text (e.g. "enter employee id").

This used to work fine but recently this started happening. This is showing up on old experiences that have were working previously and have not been updated.

The same thing is happening with a brand new experience with no css or code
