Updating On-Premise Experience Server - get version

Hello,

We use an on-premise experience server, so just about each time Vuforia Studio is updated we need to update the software on our experience server. This is no problem, the latest version is es-8-4-7-b952-780-windows-installer (189 MB) and is available at support.ptc.com >> Download Software >>  Order or Download Software Updates >> VUFORIA STUDIO >> Release 8.4 >> Most Recent Datecode

However, to check the release version of the Experience Server we currently have, I open Chrome and go to https://[my es server URL]:[port #]/ExperienceService/properties which automatically displays this information:

{"version":"8.4.0-b792","defaultDomainName":"EXAMPLE002.local","domain_id_resolver":"https://gxi.thingworx.io/ExperienceService/id-resolution/resolutions/","enable_irs_federation":"true"}

This is great, however it is not giving us updated information. I know for certain we do not have version 8.4.0 because I installed a later version when the ES stopped working, and then it started working again. Is there another way to check the version of the ES software? Or could someone fix this so the current version is displayed?

Has anyone else noticed this issue?

Thanks

Hello,

I have install Vuforia Experience Service, in a fresh install, in CentOs last month.

When running the same URL, I have this result :

{"version":"8.4.6-b952","defaultDomainName":"sdidier-precision-workstation-t5500.ptcnet.ptc.com","domain_id_resolver":"https://gxi.thingworx.io/ExperienceService/id-resolution/resolutions/","enable_irs_federation":"true"}

I am downloading 8.4.7 version and I will check but doing an update.

I will come back to you in this thread as soon as possible

Best regards,

Samuel

Hello Wes,

After doing an upgrade, I have this result :

{"version":"8.4.6-b952","defaultDomainName":"sdidier-precision-workstation-t5500.ptcnet.ptc.com","domain_id_resolver":"https://gxi.thingworx.io/ExperienceService/id-resolution/resolutions/","enable_irs_federation":"true"}

It is the same as in my previous thread.

It seems like it is not updated as we can expect.

By the way, in Experience Service itself, in /opt/ptc/studio-es/VERSION and in /opt/ptc/studio-es/installer/VERSION, I have these version numbers 8.4.6-b952.780

When running in a Terminal start-es.sh, we can see the current version of Vuforia Experience Service :start-es_version.png

Here, we have the same version number.

In the /tmp/ folder, I can find a log file dated of today (when doing this upgrade) named 8.4.6-b952.780-installLog.log.

I was not able to find a version number inside it.

At the end, if we look the release notes, we can see that Vuforia Experience Service has not been updated since 8.4.6 :

So, I presume that in this use case upgrade from 8.4.6 to 8.4.7, installer has just be renamed.

In your use case, Wes, we can expect at least the same version number 8.4.6-b952.780 and not 8.4.0-b792.

So, to investigate deeper, it would be perfect to have the install log file and to check it.

Best regards,

Samuel
