Hi, I would like to talk to you about Vuforia Studio.
The strength of Vuforia Studio is that I can make ARs quickly and easily.
In addition, you can connect to the IoT platform Thingworx to realize digital data as AR.
However, Vuforia Studio seems to need a lot more to create a powerful AR. Advanced knowledge of creo illustrations, advanced knowledge of JS ...
And I know that connecting to Thingworx from other servers is not supported. If Thingworx is already built and used, it should be migrated to Vuforia Studio's Thingworx server, which can be inconvenient.
Vuforia Studio can make ARs easily and quickly, but I do not think there are any marketing, advertising, or other strengths other than fun.
Could you tell me some of the strengths that other Vuforia Studio users think?
I use the trial version of Vuforia Studio, so the strength of Vuforia Studio may not reach me.
Thank you.
Warm Regards,
SeonHo.

Hello SeonHo,
For a beginner, bindings are very easy to use and create simple interactions.
For a more advanced usage, we can use javascript.
Today, if I want to develop an AR Experience without Vuforia Studio but with a custom User Interface and some interactions, software available is very poor.
I have found this list :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_augmented_reality_software
Many of them are SDKs.
So, they need a strong developpment knowledge.
It is not accessible to everyone and it needs a long investment in time.
C/C++ or Objective C are more complex than Javascript.
Others seem not so flexible as Vuforia Studio.
In all cases with AR, it needs knowledge to create 3D Models and Animations.
If it is not in Creo Illustrate as for Vuforia Studio, it will be in a more common 3D modeler as Maya, Blender or 3DS Max.
By the way, if at PTC, Creo Illustrate is used, it is because Creo Illustrate is used in Windchill MPMLink, Windchill Service Information Manager and Windchill Service Parts or in standalone by our customers.
So, contents in this format already exist.
This data is already use to describe Operations in Manufacturing or repair manuals.
No need to convert data in another format to use it in an AR Experience in Vuforia Studio.
No need to learn something more for Administrators and Illustrators.
It is a big avantage for our customers.
Our customers are industrial compagnies and we are focusing on them.
It is the core of the businees of PTC since the company has been created.
Now, for the new customers, it needs a rampup, of course.
Also, Vuforia Studio is a young product.
It has plenty of improvments who can be done.
Products Managers are very accessible to heard request of customers about that.
If you have some througt to share about PTC softwares, please share it with us.
It might be a source of a new behavior.
Best regards,
Samuel
Hello SeonHo,
I suppose that this thread is a good example about that some people are trying to do with Vuforia Studio.
https://community.ptc.com/t5/Studio/Human-Brain-Anatomy/td-p/613297
We can also talk about Vuforia Expert Capture who is a new application based on the same technologies as Vuforia Studio.
This new tool should help in industrial to create documentation on steps to assemble, repair or to use a machine.
It can help to reduce costs, errors ...etc...
It seems the impact of this kind of project is not just to have fun.
Best regards,
Samuel
Thank you for answer, Samuel.
Visualizing the manual can certainly help!
Errors and time costs will certainly decrease.
However, visualizing the manual requires knowledge of Creo Illustrations and knowledge of Java Script.
Unfortunately, this looks a bit different from the concept of Vuforia Studio, which publishes the AR experience quickly and easily ...
I would like to listen to you about your thoughts on Vuforia Studio.
Thank you.
Warm Regards,
SeonHo
