Hi community members,
Currently, to display a CAD model in Vuforia View, we need to perform spatial tracking, model tracking, or ThingMark (Marker) tracking. We believe it would be very useful if users could view the scene (3D model) in Vuforia View without needing to perform any tracking. This would be especially helpful for those who do not have access to a CAD system and simply want to see the model so that they can provide immediate feedback to the designer.
Thank you.
i dont think so without tracking its possible to view the model. because its based on tracking itself otherwise it would treated like normal video without tracking
Hi @Suraj_Patil
Other AR software has this functionality. CAD data already exists in Vuforia experience, so I don't think it will be too difficult to display it within the experiences. Our concept is to use Vuforia View as a viewer only, without performing any tracking, especially in situations where tracking is difficult to achieve.
PTC can answer this then.
Without some form of tracking, it's not really AR. In order to show the model in the environment, you have to have some method of keeping it steady relative to the environment.
Or do you mean you just want to see a 3D model with a white background, like you would in CAD software? In that case, you might be better off just using the Creo View app itself instead of Vuforia View. There are Creo View apps for Android and iOS, which can display PVZ files in a fully virtual way (no tracking or integration with the user's physical environment).
Hi @ClayHelberg ,
Thank you for your response.
Yes, I just want to see the distinct 3D model (sometimes containing PMI information too) with any background, like in CAD software, within the Vuforia View app where translation, rotation, and zoom of the 3D model are possible. I understand that with the Creo View app, we can achieve this.
Instead of installing the Creo View app, if the scene display functionality were available within the Vuforia View app, it would be easier to manage. (Importing the model in Creo View can take a certain amount of time, which could be reduced.
