How to Ask a Good Question

We receive a lot of feedback that some questions on the community are lacking necessary details and information, so we put together this list of tips that will improve your chances of receiving the answer you are looking for.

  1. Search first.
If you have a question that you need answered fast, chances are someone has asked it before. So, take advantage of the community search. There are a variety of options to help you find answers!

  2. Make sure you are on the right forum.
If you ask a Creo question on our community feedback forum, chances are no one able to answer it is ever going to see it. Here is a list of product forums for your convenience:

  3. Choose a clear title that summarizes your question.
We have hundreds of questions with some variation of the title "HELP ME". This is unlikely to be seen by someone with knowledge relevant to your question.

  4. Context is important.
Don't just ask for a solution but explain your end goal. The approach you are trying may not be possible, but there may be other approaches to that goal that you aren't aware of.

  5. Share what you've already tried.
This will prevent unnecessary back and forth. Someone may suggest something you've already tried, bringing the conversation to a halt until you respond. This will waste your time and theirs.

  6. Include all relevant information,
like which software and version you are using.

  7. A picture is worth a thousand words!
Include screen shots and video. You can use the "Insert Photos" and "Insert Video" icons on the editor menu or copy/paste images directly.

  8. If someone gives you an answer that works let them know!
Mark the answer as an accepted solution. AndrewK_0-1691608920447.png This will make it easier for others with the same problem find the answer and show some appreciation to the industry experts that are answering questions in their spare time.
