Configurable Product/Module -> Constraints -> External Application

Use Case: Looking for an example class or documentation on how to use this functionality.

Description:

Has anyone created an external application constraint and have an example to share? There's zero information to be had on this functionality besides how to navigate to it in the UI.

Does my external application need to extend a base class?
Does it require certain methods and return types?

I've gathered that this only gets executed when the "Advanced Logic -> Validate Logic" action is run - is this correct?

It looks like the package and class that the 'external application' needs to extend is 'com.ptc.wpcfg.ext.ExternalApplication'.

This is referenced in CPS notes but missing exposed package to customer JARs.  I have a case open with PTC because it looks like this functionality was missed in documentation and JAR packages.
