Windchill default folder status in My Notebook

Version: Windchill 12.0

Use Case: On the home screen of Windchill (using it in a browser), the My Notebook folders are always expanded by default when I launch windchill. I would like them to be collapsed by default.

Description:

When the folders are expanded, it forces unnecessary scrolling to get down to important information. I have tried changing the "left pane folder explorer" preference to "no," but that did not resolve the issue. I am unable to find any other preference that would make those folders remain collapsed by default. Does anyone know how to make that happen?

I would gather that the notebook UI is not the same as the left side folder browser so that preference does not apply. If you notice, the notebook table shows items and folders together. The left side pane only shows folders. I tested and folder expansion is a sticky setting so when I collapse them and refresh and return, they stay collapsed. How much stuff do you have in your notebook? Have you also tried reordering the notebook to push it further down on your home page? You can reorder the tabs on the drop by dragging them left or right but I think you knew that already.

It only sticks as long as the browser is active. Once I quit and re-open the browser, the folders are expanded again.

Ok, I see what you are saying. How many items are in your notebook? I noticed that it expanded just My General Links. I also observed that it did not expand my TEST folder to expand its contents. What if you tried organizing the links you have into subfolders. This way it does not expand so large. Have you also relocated the notebook to lower down on the Home page?  Trying to see if there is an easy way to avoid customization. I see by your alias that you are a fan boy 😉. Its not that  bad is it?

I appreciate that you've given me some workarounds, but ultimately, they don't solve the basic issue that folders in one random location are expanded by default and there is apparently no setting to change that. I don't understand why such basic things that are common to every other modern GUI are beyond the reach of PTC programmers. It's incredibly frustrating that everything PTC produces requires multiple workarounds and endless mouse clicks.
