Ability to create soft attributes whose data type is "com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText" via Type Manager

Ability to create soft attributes whose data type is "com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText" via Type Manager

  • Idea
    • Putting an ability to create soft attributes whose data type is "com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText" via Type Manager.
  • Current Situation
    • Adminsitraters can create soft attributes whose data types are "String, Integer, URL, and Boolean" only.
    • By using IIP [Integrity Integration Platform], requriment documents are published to Windchill.
  • The mappings are as following.

DataIntegrity (I) -->--> Windchill (W)
TypeRequirement Document

Requirement

- Intenal name: ptc.windchill.enterprise.requirement.Requirement

- This type is a modeled type.

TypeRequirment

Requirment Item (= sub type of Requirement)

- Internal name: com.ptc.reql.RequirementItem

- This type is a soft type extended from Requirement.

AttributeRich text field

Description

- Internal name: description.formattedText

- Data type: com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText

- This attribute is a modeled attribute. (not soft attribute)

  • Problem in current situation
    • A Requirement Item (W) can accept a Requirement (I) which has only single richtext field.
    • If Requirement (I) has multiple rich text fields, there is no mapping attributes except "Description" in Requirement Item (W) because Windchill doesn't have an ability to create soft attirubute whose data type is "com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText" by using Type Manager and by executing windchill command "wt.load.LoadFromFile
  • Expected result
    • Administrators can create soft attribute whose data type is "com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText" by using Type Manager.

Would be great if that attribute data type can be used also for any kind of object sof types in Windchill, like WTpart or Change Management objects

It would be great if com.ptc.core.richtext.HTMLText data type can be made available during Attribute creation. We have a similar requirement to create an Alias attribute for Change Notice description but we can't due to this data type issue.
