Accessing variables in Workflows via reports

having the ability to create variables in workflows for different things is very handy. For example, you can create "startdate" and "completedate" for different tasks. However, workflows are stored as BLOBS and cannot be accessed by query builder.

My request is that these variables become exposed to querybuilder so that we can report on things inside of a workflow, for better process improvement.

Martin,

Not quite sure what times you are looking for, but WorkItems for example do have time stamps that you can report and do calculations on.  Another option might be to add Checkpoint Robots in your workflow which will give you timestamps that you can report against or send out email notifications against.

Agree w/Jeff's suggestions. I've set up quite a bit of process reporting using both Work Items and Checkpoints.  Helpful for example to be able to report how long over 3 months or some other time period it took to get from Requester thru Approvers, or from that point until full resolved, etc.  Once the reports exist, can run them from Excel and just refresh Excel charts.
