Add ability for full text search to include content mastered in remote vaults

The ability to master content at remote sites was added in 9.1, however Windchill’s full text search engine (solr) only indexes master content at the main server’s vault, nothing else.  This severely limits the usefulness of full text search, and causes confusion with users who are unable to find content.  Users may be unaware of where content is mastered and thus which content has full text search.

Providing full text indexing to content, regardless of master storage location, greatly improves ability for users to locate the desired objects.

This would be a great thing, however it would need to be implemented in a way that would not replicate data back to the primary server, otherwise you have eliminated the advantages of having remote master content servers.  it would require the search to run as a federated search (executing on each server and merging the results)

Larry,

Do you mean that if I checkin a ppt that is stored in fileserver, the content is not indexed by SOLR ?

I will check on our installation.

Hi Morgan,

Yes, we learned this while setting up a remote content file server.

Have a good day!
