Allow export of files from Workspace without erasing session

Currently, if a user exports files from his workspace, Windchill wants to erase the entire session.  What need could there possibly be for this?

PTC, eliminate the action to erase the current session when users export files from their workspace.

PTC gives some convoluted answer for this:

However, it does not make sense.  Essentially what we are asking to do is a backup of objects, just like in Creo Parametric when the user backs up a drawing, assembly or part by selecting File > Save As > Save a Backup.  Creo does not ask to erase the session then, why would it ask to erase the session on export, which is the same operation?
