Tuning of Antivirus could be crucial for Windchill PDMLink performances, it is also very sensitive.

PTC had only produced recommendations which concern Windchill version until 9.1, moreover they are basic advices.

It would be very interesting for customer to have a support document on this subject which is updated and more sophisticated.

Speaking of this...

We installed Symantec Endpoint Protection on our test servers.  Prior to installing it, it took approximately 2 minutes to unzip a Windchill CPS patch.  After the Symantec software was running, the unzipping carried on for over 1.5 hours before I gave up waiting and went to bed.  I'm not sure when it finally unzipped.  In addition to the long time for unzipping the patch, I also found the installation of the patch only completed the first few steps after running for 12 hours.

That being said - the software probably can run & coexist with the Windchill application.  It just needs to be configured properly.  We didn't spend the time to configure it properly (yet).

I am just curious. Are you installing Symantec on test servers because you are going to change on production servers? Or it is just tests for an upgrade of Symantec?

If you are going to change, I am interested to know which one are you currently using?

I'm not sure why Symantec was installed.  It was a server admin thing.  We only manage the Windchill application on the server.  The server admins manage the machine itself.
