Attribute mapping between 3D Cad document and 2D Cad document

Attribute mapping between 3D Cad document and 2D Cad document

Sometimes 3D en 2D objects have the same attributes. You can add the value for the 3D object in the parameters in Creo.

For the moment there is no default possibility to map this attribute value to the 2D object.

So if you perform an advanced search on the attribute in PDMLink only the 3D document will be returned.

It would be better if there was a possibility to map these attributes if the name of the 3D and 2D objetcs were the same.

If you search then, the 3D and 2D object would appear together in the results and then you can copy them together to the clipboard to perform a batch action for example.

This mapping can be done via drawing program (see Tools > Drawing Program in WF5).  We have a JLink application to do the synchronisation, since you can have several drawing models in one drawing, or several drawings for one model.  JLink gives you more control then a drawing program.

Anyway, I don't think this is a Windchill thing.

Do you use WTPart in Windchill ?

The Part is the abstraction of the "physical part" and is able to agregate informations by linking the 3D model and the drawing(s)

This common attributes should may be handle by the WTpart.   And from it, you're able to synch parameter in 3D and Drawings ...

Or not synch and use Watermarking ....
