Hi

we all know that vaults get full and every so often a new vault must be created. When implementing a brand new server it is possible to automate this creation and set a limit for the number of files the vaults should have.

As far as I know, if this automation process is not enabled during the implementation it is not possible to enable it afterward.

The idea is to enable this in new releases of PDMLink.

This will provide administrator with great flexibilities.

Chris,

As you say from 9.0 onwards you can define a vault as having automatic folder creation. If you search the PTC system admin docs for the term "automatic folder creation" or "root folder", you should find details on the initial configuration. You can set preferences to set the number of files per folder.

The standard documentation does not give any notes on how to convert an existing flat vault system. But the PTC knowledge base has a technical note CS21895 which explains how you can perform the conversion.
