Need a functionality in the Part Structure similar to the "Designation" of components in the cabling module of Creo Parametric.
There is a standard called ISA, in which objects in a BOM are designated with unique tags. This is to define functional elements of a part that can provide certain functions.
Example: PT2000 is a tag that measures pressure at a specific point.
The trick here is that it's a reference designator that lives at more than one level down. Currently Windchill only keeps a reference designation unique to a single level. This would add the ability to create a reference designator that could be anywhere within a product.
These specially tagged components should be able to be reported against, highlighted in the visualization, the reference designation should also propagate into any downstream views and also reported within their BOM's and visualization.
