1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Space. MCAD Administrator. Engineers.
2. What version of Windchill are you currently running?
11.1
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
If the user creates the CAD document through Creo (File > New) and the user does NOT specify a CAGE code prior to check in, then the CAGE code will default to the Organization identifier.
o To reproduce: In Creo, go to New (top left button of Creo 2 program window)
o Create a CAD document, and save it to Workspace
o Check In CAD document using Auto Check In (File > Check In or File > Check In -> Auto Check In from Creo 2)
o System will set the CAGE code to be the container’s owning organization instead of default CAGE code of container
4. What is the use case for your organization?
This is an issue with a large implementation that has many CAGE codes in use at the company. We use default cage codes for all other objects, why are EPMDocuments special or different?
This also impacts Auto-Associate to WTPart objects - which you need the WTPart CAGE values to be the same as the CAD Document CAGE values. Current system behavior is inconsistent, not putting the user first, and is inducing rework as part of the design creation process.
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Reduced rework and incorrect CAGE codes
