In the Product Structure Browser it is possible save user specific filters and system-wide filters that can be shared with all users. If a user applies a filter this is stored for some time for a specific structure, but it will not be kept when opening another structure. For some use-cases it is beneficial to always start with specific filter other than the default filter.
At our Windchill Installation we use WTPart View Versions to grant specific user groups an alternate "reduced" view to WTParts. This is how we represent an internal customer-supplier relationship. The internal supplier is maintaining the Design View, while the customer is using the "Reduced View" in their structures. This reduced view does not have a BOM, but has for instance a simplified representation attached or specific documents. To see this reduced view the user has to set a specific filter to not see the WTPartMaster in the structure. If a default filter that lists first the Design View and than the downstream Reduced View could be configured, this customer-supplier interaction would be more seamless.
