Configuration Context is not updated if you add components in the context part.

Configuration Context is not updated if you add components in the context part.

The Parts added to the context part are not added to the Configuration Context. Refresh Context is ineffective. So the functionality become totally useless if the configuration Context is not updated with the Context Part. Curious : removing from the context part remove in the configuration context.

Have you set a correct configspec to refresh your ConfigContext (ie LATEST .. or other ...)? If yes, look like a bug ...

Have you open a all to the Tech Support ? What did they say ?

Gregory

Hello.

I have not looked at your data set; but the SPRs related to this call that are closed are marked as works to spec because the added child Parts are NOT already in the CAD Structure.

Do you have CAD Documents at each level of your Part structure?

Did you add the Part to a level where its parent has a corresponding CAD Document?

The New Design Context action in the Configuration Context UI can create/update a top-level assembly when one does not exist; but it does not modify structure of checked in CAD Documents.  To do that, you must first use the "Compare to CAD Structure" UI to push the changes to the CAD Structure.

In general, Configuration and Design Context are not designed to create structure.  They are a simplification of a more complicated structure.

Thanks for the input Jennifer,

I benefit from it to ask another question. Did you have a look about my mail on BOM Line & Find numbers , and the ability to automatically synch it in CAD ? like for ref designators ?

Any plan to implement this for being able to use them as baloon in Drawings ?

regards

Gregory

I cannot commit to it; but if you are going to Planet PTC, talk to Steve Shaw about it.  Something is on the way.
