Configure Windchill database sequences nocache

Configure Windchill database sequences nocache

The default for Oracle (don't know about SQL Server) is for all sequences to issue the next 20 values on startup.  Any of these not used (e.g. assigned to Change Requests) are skipped over on database restart - resulting in gaps in auto numbering.  The values are issued this way for performance.

Standard advice is to set all these sequences after installation to "nocache."

Seems that this is such a common need for Windchill that the database configuration should be set to nocache by default.. Can't think of a single case where the slight performance gain in issuing sequence values is required for Windchill.

So, the idea / request is that Windchill set all sequences to not discard any values on restart.

There are many questions in the community about why sequences jump by 20.  It confuses people who aren't aware of caching.  And tech support even needed to create an article about it - probably several in fact.  One of them is here: CS124192.  All this could be avoided if OOTB sequences were all set to NOCACHE.  This is an easy low-hanging, no-brainer product idea.

FYI...tech support even suggests to use NOCACHE when creating a new sequence:  CS133468.
