Containers accessed through the DTI shall be flagged as recently accessed

Containers accessed through the DTI shall be flagged as recently accessed

When using exclusively the Windchill Desktop Integration, if the user accesses a container, this container is not flagged as "Recently Accessed" ( whereas it is taken into account by using the Web interface).

The list of default containers through the Windows Explorer can be modified using a preference in Windchill with following options:

  • Recently Accessed + Favorites : containers shall be accessed through the Web Interface to be flagged as "Recently Accessed" or "Favorites"
  • Recently Accessed : containers shall be accessed through the Web Interface to be flagged as "Recently Accessed"
  • Favorites : containers shall be flagged within the Web Interface as "Favorites"
  • All : lists all containers the user has accessed to; this can results in showing hundreds of containers whereas the user typically uses only a few of them

DTI can be found as a great alternative to SharePoint for non-PLM users; however for users using only the DTI to manage Documents, the behavior can be strange which can lead to a bad user experience. The only possible solution for users which are not introduced to the Web Interface will be to select the "All" option however this will result in a waste of time in order to select the right container (can occur several times a day for each user).

Therefore, the objective of this idea is to implement the same way of working between the Web Interface and the Windchill Desktop Integration.
