In Modelmager there is an option called "Generate associated drawings on copy". This option is missing in Windchill.
In a Creo Elements Direct Modeling session linked to Windchill, it is only possible to copy 3D models and drawings in the cad system itself and not in Windchill. After copying a cad-part in Modeling, you have to copy the drawing and reassociate it to the copy of the cad-part. This is ok, when you copy only one part, but many of our customers are copying assembly structures and the effort for copying also the drawings and associated them to the 3D models is very high.
When we are in a linked Modelmanager session this effort is done automatically by Modelmanager.
Many of our customers wants to migrate from Modelmanager to Windchill but almost all of them are in the opinion that this is a step back to the past when we are talking about copying objects.
OK we can say, that copying parts is not the right way - customers should reuse the parts. But this is in many cases not possible. This customers are building machines and plants only one time or order related.
