Creating links that always point to the latest version of an object in Windchill.

Creating links that always point to the latest version of an object in Windchill.

Background: Links to windchill objects are shared in some documents which are rarely modifies. The Documents in links are updated quite frequently. Need a solution to have the links point to the latest version without having the need to modify them.

The links created should not be for a particular (version.iteration) but for the latest iteration even after it is modified.

PTC Case 16558248 was opened for the same. It worked as per our expectation earlier but some how does not work now.

@ptc-6744441 describing the as-is functionality to the desired functionality is always a great way to document an idea. you can also use the standard agile user story method “As a [persona], I [want to], [so that].” if you are not familiar with this method, check out this description from Atlassian.

i totally agree with this idea. it would be awesome for users to have an easier way to create and manage links to objects in Windchill. i would envision something like sharing a Google or Sharepoint document, but the UI would include which configuration of the link you would like to have; latest iteration, latest revision, latest "released", etc.
