By default, Creo View Consumer requires administrative privileges to install via the browser or as an executable on the file system. Not all users that use this software have administrative privileges to install it. If an administrator provides the necessary credentials for a standard user to install (i.e., run as "administrator"), Consumer is installed under the administrators' profile and not the standard user's profile. The only alternative is to deploy Creo View Consumer to standard users via some sort of script or IT software push.
A better alternative would be to allow an Administrator to install Creo View Consumer on a system which is available to all existing and new user profiles (similar to how the Creo View Express, Creo View Lite, and Creo View Standard installations work). Or, enable a Creo View Consumer installation to occur without the need for administrative purposes (this may not be possible).
This issue has impacted the Lockheed Martin 10.2 M030 S1000D SIM implementation. As additional users are brought onto the system, this issue will impact a significant number of users that require Creo View Consumer in order to view CGMs and other graphics in the InService 5.3 SP3 Viewer. Creo View Lite (bundled with Windchill) is not an option since non-Windchill users will be accessing the InService Viewers. We are looking at the possibility of using Creo View Express, but its uncertain whether or not its fully compatible with the InService Viewer.
Lockheed is exploring other deployment options at this time as well. Most users will access the InService Viewer via a Citrix session.
