Delete dialog

Delete dialog

Hola,

when user trying to delete an object having 3 options:

  • Delete all iterations of each object included in the table
  • Delete all revisions of each object included in the table
  • Delete latest iterations of each object included in the table

I strongly recommend to rename these options like this:

  • Delete last revision of the object
  • Delete object from Windchill
  • Delete last iteration of the object

Most of the new users are completely lost when deleting objects (confused by meaning "all iterations=whole revision" and "all revisions=permanent delete"). After this rename would be more user friendly and clear what is going to happpen...

PS: Action is valid for every object included in the table which is obvious

The new sentences are more understandable to me.

I find it very helpful create a custom view to include the 'Version' and 'Modified By' columns as well - could be useful for PTC to add to the default view.

I made this cheat guide a while back to help me remember what the options did (we use numeric revision):

Deleting Objects in Windchill.jpg

Also, Creo Drawing Formats get included by default. The default should be to exclude the Creo Drawing Formats so users don't have to manually exclude/remove the formats.

@lhoogeveen,

I highly suggest changing the collection options for 'Delete' to 'None'.  This will avoid bringing along anything except what you initially selected and prevent the collection of formats.

Another small improvement would be to sort out options according to impact of the task (minor to major)

  1. Delete last iteration of the object
  2. Delete last revision of the object
  3. Delete object from Windchill
