Desktop Integration: We need a possibility to supress the annoying Messages for checkout and download Office documents?

There is an existing SPR and case:

SPR: 21435

Case: 10829171

if  I only want to have a look to a document and click on the icon to view it in Windchill, i get popup-windows, which are really not necessary.

the first window is the checkout window: (Do you want to check out this document from Windchill?)

but I don’t want to check out, just have a look..

Then I close the document and I get this one: (Do you want to update this document in Windchill before close?)

Really annoying!

Approximately we need about 10 seconds additionally for each document.  In the next step we plan to have about 3000 users. One user will open documents about ten times a day.

We just went live with 10.0 M030 at the end of July and we couldn't agree more.  DTI is too "in your face".  You need to be able to have options or preferences that control this.  You also need to have the ability to toggle certain options at the time of an automated silent installation when you are deploying to 1,000+ computers globally.

We've heard you loud and clear on this request and hope to have a new preference ready in Windchill 10.2 to disable the prompts and allow you to get back to work rather than deciphering all the questions from DTI.

There is a new client preference in Windchill 10.2 to address this issue. We are also adding it to Windchill 10.1 M050 and it can be requested from Technical Support as a patch on 10.1 M040 under SPR 2172376.

My apologies. The previous comment identified the wrong SPR # and has since been udpated with the correct one.

What about just view it in Creo View?  That would elimnate the problem if you are just looking at a document.

I have Windchill 10.1 M020. Could I request a patch also for this version?

You can check with PTC Technical Support. I am not sure if a patch was ever created for 10.1 M020. The patch was created for 10.1 M040 since so many customers are on this release and the prompts can have a negative impact on some users and workflow processes.
