Desktop Notofication agent for Windchill

Hi fellows,

Why don't PTC create a Desktop notification agent that would pop up wtih alerts and notifications when the specific user has some tasks, alerts for susciptions done to objects?

This would be of great help where customers has no link between their Windchill system and their emails.

This is a great idea. Windchill currently gives a combined view of Tasks on your home page, while individual tasks are located with their source. Are you thinking about a client application that provides the updates or something built right into Windchill? There are definitely pros and cons to each approach. I can envision getting a notification from the desktop when I am not logged into Windchill, which would be nice. But I may only want to get them after I have authenticated or actively using Windchill.

Another possibility is to use a 3rd party notification tool like Growl, Snarl or Toasty with Windchill subscriptions. I am hoping to try this out with my FIRST team since the students are offline most of the time, but always have a phone in their pocket.
