Many customers have the following secenario: (See more from "Example 2: Requesting Objects That Have Not Yet Been Replicated " in page 13 of "Windchill Vaulting and Replication Planning - Technical Brief ")
- Windchill RFS is configured and user preferred site is the RFS
- When a user tries to download a file which is not on RFS, Windchill will perform ad-hoc replication to replicate the file from master to RFS. After the file is replicated to RFS completedly, user can download the file from RFS.
- Because master site and RFS are communicating via internet. Generally the user needs to wait for a long time to download a big file.
- The user may perform download action repeatedly before the file downloading dialog prompts. In extreme situation, this could exhaust the network bandwidth.
If it could disable the download action before the first downloading request responses, it could save the network bandwidth and improve user experience a lot.
