Effectivity is only applied in WTPart as modeled extension.
Top product model always has an effectivity from birth to death/end-of-life.
Effectivity values placed in parent objects links to children objects from the affected and resulting tables during change notice/activity lifecycle approval process.
All objects have a revision and has an effectivity (CMII with document impact matrix)
Drill up or down.
There's this kind of feature in A&D module ... and WTdocuments are planned to be effectivities manageable in 10.2 if I remember ...
Effectivity on Document has been supported since 10.1 M010. When you set the effectivity and look at the product structure if the document is a References link it will resolve based upon the Effectivity.
Effectivity on EPM is a deeper discussion - why would be it be different then the part its related too?
Agree with Jeffrey
The CAD "is just" a desciptor. Windchill is partcentric
How about Manufacturing unit based effectivity?
Two factories manufacturing same product (uses the same WTPart) with different Manufacturing drawings.
They want to use different effectivity for their local drawings.
Any bright ideas please, how to achieve this?
