Enable WRS Reporting domain for PowerBI integration

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

It would be helpful if the Reporting domain in Windchill REST Services could be used in combination with PowerBI/ODATA. We want to use an OData connection from PowerBI to Windchill to securely extract data.

Right now we need customized domains to extract all relevant data (i.e. Workitems). If we could use the Reporting domain we can use our Querybuilder reports to achieve this without customizing.


4. What is the use case for your organization?
Securely using PowerBI for dashboarding of Windchill data. These reports are used by many users on a daily basis.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Better performing integration to PowerBI, much easier to extract reports without customization.

We are an ETO organisation, with about 1800 windchill users. Our Configuration Management department is using dashboards for managing changes, next to many (200-500) 'light users' that would benefit from an easy dashboard because they are not daily Windchill users itself.

With WRS 2.3 we have delivered the Reporting domain allowing one to expose Query Builder Queries as OData endpoints

Hello @JeffZemsky,

I am aware of the Reporting domain, however it does not seem to be applicable to use as an OData feed source in PowerBI, our reporting tool. It would be very helpful if it would be possible to use the Reporting domain to extract specific Windchill Reports to be used in target systems like PowerBI.

Perhaps I am not seeing it correctly, is there a way to use these endpoints in PowerBI? Any instructions would be helpful.
