Enable "Revise and Checkout" in ProE/Creo to utilize the Revise collector preference

Enable "Revise and Checkout" in ProE/Creo to utilize the Revise collector preference

Currently, there is inconsistency between "Revise" action in Windchill UI (Commonspace or Workspace) and ProE/Creo.

When revise through Windchill, the related objects will be collected and revise according to the revise collector set in the preferences. However, when revise through ProE/Creo using the command "Revise and Checkout", not all the related objects are collected and revise according to the preferences.

For example, the revise collector " Include Related Drawings" will not be utilized when performing "Revise and Checkout" Action in ProE/Creo. However, if the revise action is performed in Windchill UI, it will utilize the revise collector "Inlcude Related Drawings"

Due to this inconsistency, lots of man hour has to be put in to fix up those objects that are not revise when user utilise the "Revise and Checkout" from ProE/Creo. Currently, there is no way to prevent to user from using this functionality in ProE/Creo

Think only the "include WTPART"  preference is taken into consideration when "checkout and revise" from proE

Family tables are also handled differently.

This request is really important. User should have possibility to configure the scope of objects during Revise from ProE/Creo

WWGM performs the same way.  In WWGM, we have it set to collect WTPart & Drawing.  In Inventor, it does WTPart onlyl

This is a BUG that PTC must solve.

A wrong revise action can create a big problem in data and a lot of man-hours to be fixed, usually the quicker solution is export Creo data to disk, delete wrong revision (if possible), revise correclty and re-import Creo data in workspace

Fully agree that this behavior must be fixed in Creo Parametric.

To not Revise a dependent drawing together with its Model and WTPart cause lots of problem and disorder.

Most users can not fix this problem when it have happened.

Hello.

We are working to add more collector preferences to be supported for Revise and Check Out; however we have enabled a couple of enhancements to help the situation when objects are not revised together:

1. See the Idea for ideas enhancements on how to "reconnect" to already revised Parts:

2. Creo 5.0 has a new config.prop option too hide the a Revise and Check out action if you need to force the revise from Windchill:

Thanks

Hello All.

In Windchill 11.1 M020, PTC has implemented a change to allow the Revise and Check Out in CAD tools to follow the Revise collector.

There are a few issues I would like to bring up, in case you had not thought about it:

  1. Out of the box Revise collector preferences include all dependents.    I strongly felt that this would not be desired; therefore we are introducing another server-side preference, "Revise > Collector > Collection Preferences Not Used In Quick User Interface" to EXCLUDE the use of some of the Revise collector preferences during Revise and Check Out from CAD tool.   Out of the box, this collector will exclude all server-side preferences related to dependent CAD Documents and Parts.  If you would prefer the Revise and Check Out actio to also revise dependents, you may remove these controls from the new server-side preference.
  2. Out of the box Revise collector preferences include all Family table members.  From discussions with TC members, I have NOT included this preference in "Revise > Collector > Collection Preferences Not Used In Quick User Interface."   As a result, all Family Table members will be revised by default. If you would prefer the Revise Family Table members independently, you may add this collector control to the new server-side preference.
  3. For Creo WGM users, this is a server-side change, so upon upgrade to Fox (even if using same version of Creo), the user will start to see different behavior.   Again, if you want to isolate the users from any change, please add additional collector controls to the new server-side preference.

Please let me know if you have any questions/comments.

Thanks

Jennifer
