Enable the ability to share an object to multiple projects at the same time.

Currently, the UI only allows the selection of one Project at a time when doing a share to a Project. 

Scenario 1:  We have a large number of documents that we require our vendors to train to and/or have access to.  These are generally SOPs and Work Instructions.  We will have a project for each vendor and would like to be able to share these documents and select all vendors at once.

We have the same need working with our mold makers.

We share the same document with requirements to build a new plastic mold to different suppliers to ask a quotation.

At the moment our consultants had to create a customization to achieve the same behavior.

Being able to update the multiple projects easily (at same time) should be included as well.  We are on Windchill 10.1, so maybe this is easier in the newer versions.

This is a great idea. Jen is correct, the current UI only allows the selection of a single Project and folder location when using the Send to Project action. Alternatively, you can also use Copy/Paste to add items to a project. This does not provide a complete work-around, but does provide an alternative workflow of navigating to the source folder in the source Project and just using the Paste action. Of course, this assumes you can collect all the required items onto the clipboard to support the Paste operation. I can see where this would become difficult if you have many items in many different locations all being shared to different targets.

Mark is also correct about the maintenance. You would need to visit each project to perform an Update action. Would be much nicer if you could go to the source file and invoke an Update action on all the dependent "shares" at once.

Windchill 11.0 has a new capability to support automatic update of shared items in projects. Depending on your use case and how you want to control the shared files, this could be an option too. I wanted to add a link to the what's new document, but it appears the Windchill 11.0 HelpCenter has not been posted online yet.
