Error occurring while using Export Import functionality for bill of material in Windchill 11. Importing modified bom after replacing an item in the bill of material throws an error as attached. Please find the BOM also attached. I had raised this issue earlier also when we were using Windchill 10.2 but at that time PTC closed the case saying that this issue is fixed in Windchill 11 and can not be done in Windchill 10.2. Please resolve the issue ASAP as this functionality helps in reducing the time for BOM change by a huge amount.

Can you clarify the actions you are taking please?  Line Numbers must be unique

For example if you have

Name	Number	Line Number
Parent Part 1	1234
Child Part 2	1235	10

To get to the next configuration with Excel Import/Export you must have a Delete P/N 1235 from the parent 1234 and then an Add P/N 1236 to reuse the same line number.  The Mass Change capability within Change Tasks will directly support what you are looking for as a Replace action

Parent Part 1	1234
Child Part 3	1236	10

Which would look like this in Excel

Hi JeffZemsky,

PTC has already suggested this option but we want it to be replace directly on the same position without doing any additional entry of item part number.

Currently action i.e ADD \ DELETE are available likewise REPLACE Action should get included in functionality.

Or another option would be, that there is a new setting to override the current bom with the new one. Sometimes it it's just difficult to know exactly the current bom.

Being able to perform the two operations of add and delete at the same time would reduce the working time
