Extended functionality of native taskform templates

Extended functionality of native taskform templates

Hi

Native taskform templates in 10.2 are great enhancements. The feedback from customers is:

- Like to have a "Edit Attribute" action in the subject action menu to edit attributes directly within the workflow task.

- Support multiple attribute layout groups in the Workflow Subject Layout. As today, only one group is supported (has to be named as Subject Attributes)

- Preview function of the taskform template.

Best Regards

Per Ekholm‌ what is your business case for the first enhancement? You are able to add some edit actions e.g. direct in a WTPart workflow or even in a Change Task.

Hi Bjoern

Thanks for your comments. The main business case is ease-of-use. This Company has a huge number of attributes at ECN to be filled in by different roles. Each role shall fill in a subset of the attributes in a investigation form. As today, we need to customize the tasks to present which subset of attributes to be filled in for a specific role. I know that you can add a "Edit action" to the subject action menu, but that solution will

- Navigate away fro the task

- Don't show a subset of all attributes for that role

The first item seems more generic than Task templates and would be better as an idea on its own.

For the Attribute Layout - note that you can have multiple Groups within that layout.  For this item can you provide an example of what you are trying to do?

In terms of preview - it is pretty easy to do as the templates are dynamic.  You can update the template and keep the task open in another window.  Hit refresh after checking in your template updates.  Remember any preview needs to have some kind of data to give it context as to what to show.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for your comment. I agree that the first requirement is the most important. When working with large amount of attributes who shall be filled in by different roles, it´s needed to restrict what a specific role shall fill in. Therefore we need some way to present a subset of the PBO attributes for a specific task. Also, it should be great to edit the attributes within the task.

Regarding Attribute layouts, the attributes to be presented need to be in one group named "Subject Attributes" (ref. CS218649). If the name is different, the attributes will not be visible in the task.

The preview is not critical. I know the the task is updating dynamically, but it take more time because you need to start and execute what can be a huge workflow to see the result.
