This proposal is to add a flexible replication schedule. Replication is important when a network isn't fast enough to move files real-time all day long without slowing down other critical processes such as ERP or voice over IP (when your business doesn't have the ability to throttle traffic). It's silly to have to manually abort a job just to stop it. And that leaves it to the personal schedule of the administrator to stop it which means they may stop it early before they go to bed yet several hours could remain or they wait until they wake up when it is already hindering a business.
Why: If your network is already slow and you can't stop or schedule around your businesses flexible schedule you may slow down your network as the replication job may run during business hours.
Proposal: At minimum have an option to stop either at a time or after x hours. Add options for custom schedule. Add ability for weekends only. A custom schedule would address the weekends but predefined schedules would help.
This is one of the features I like better about EPDM than Windchill. Windchill's inability to schedule a stop in replication has halted our business when a large number of files are added or a new server is setup and I forget to disable then re-enable a job. We could debate business practices but the ability to schedule replication during non-peak hours just seems like a basic function yet this enterprise system still can't do it well.
