Gathering parts support in ESI

Windchill allows the use of gathering parts. These parts can be suppressed in BOM reports while underlying parts are rolled up to a higher level with the correct quantities calculated.

However, if ESI is used to send the BOM to a distribution target, there is no possibility to suppress the gathering parts. Customization is needed to create the same functionality as offered by the standard BOM reports.

We request the gathering parts functionality in the ESI BOM release.

But gathering parts are more relevant in Engineering BOM.  it is a "CAD integration workaround"

They should disapear in manufacturing BOMs (where we use phantom parts)

This is a feature that we are very interested in. Can anyone from PTC advise whether this is being considered for implementation in to Windchill any time soon?

We would also be very interested in this function. It will save a lot of time reshaping BOMs just to get rid of them in manufacturing views, or dealing with them in ERP.
