Generate a Downstream Structure Based on the Part Occurrence Attribute

Generate a Downstream Structure Based on the Part Occurrence Attribute

1. Describe your environment:

What is your industry? Automotive

What is your role in your organization? Business Analyst

Describe your stakeholders:

Product Owners = what we produce on the shop floor

Manufacturing Owners = responsible for our production and how we produce on the shop floor

2. What version of Windchill are you currently running? 11.1 M020 CPS23

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

We associate and restructure an engineering BOM into a manufacturing BOM "template".

The manufacturing BOM "template" reflects the shop floor workstations.

In Windchill 12.1.0.0 BOM transformer function Generate a Downstream Structure ( GDS ) supports Part Usage Attribute, see help center:

https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r12.1.0.0/en/#page/Windchill_Help_Center/mpmlink/ExpMPM_GDS_UseCase2.html#

We need the very same function based on Part Occurrence Attribute.

We have engineering BOM with 30-40 000 occurrences and do this by hand and maintain over time is today a night mare, a lot of waste time for our "BOM-transformers".

4. What is the use case for your organization?
To be able to use Windchill as a PLM-solution, today we doing the work in Excel and legacy solutions because of this GAP in Windchill.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Remove local isolated Excel files and legacy solution and move into a modern PLM-solution that will help us to shorten project lead time, secure quality in product design and manufacturing preparation.
If not Windchill will solve this we need to select another PLM-solution.
