Recently a new feature has been made available in Windchill so that it is possible to create graphic information elements directly from the web interface, instead of bursting it from Arbortext Editor as part of textual XML content.
This feature allows for inserting different kinds of Dynamic Documents, not just graphical objects.
I suggest that this menu entry (and every other menu entry present everywhere else in the Windchill UI) should be called New Media Information Element.
As we start to move away from creating dumb PDF publications, and we move into HTML, including HTML 5, new media types should be supported.
Today we can already define new soft types and create objects of such types, using the menu item mentioned above:
This should be the first step or a more organic architecture meant to support media dynamic documents objects in Windchill.
The goal would be to publish HTML containing embedded audio, video, images and other media types.
