Import neutral file into WGM like Creo config.pro option allow_import_file_extension

Import neutral file into WGM like Creo config.pro option allow_import_file_extension

Trying to manage non-PTC CAD data (specifically Catia and Solidworks), and need to manage/store neutral file types (e.g. .stl, .pdf, and the like) derived from like data in Windchill, but can find no option for WGM to accept other file types. It can be (and is) done using the embedded browser in Creo using config.pro option allow_import_file_extension and list file types; been that way for years.... Earliest date of comments related to this task was 2013...

WGM provides a client-side configuration option to attach such a neutral file type as secondary attachment and upload it along with supported CAD Document file types. Using wgm.autoattach, for example, you can add analysis input files when checking in CATAnalysis file in Windchill.

In fact, allow_import_file_extension allows to save neutral file types to Windchill as CAD documents, it is not recommended because there is limitation in iterating these CAD documents with new contents.

@YodaKim I would like to elevate this feature request.  I can see why this request would be set aside for neutral file types as that is not the intention of the allow_import_file_extension.  However, I have used this with Creo to import library and template files.  I would like to be able to do the same for SolidWorks in the WGM.  Please consider elevating this request to bring WGM to parity with Creo based on these use cases.

We have a similar request regarding Solidworks Drawing formats/templates (.slddrt).

Other Solidworks templates can be managed easily via WFS - but not the drawing format.

I'm running into an issue stemming from this exact problem.  A customer gave me a step from OnShape. We've imported it into Solidworks but the WGM will not let us check it in without the step file... which we can't get into the workspace.
