Improve the affected and resulting objects window of a change task/note

Improve the affected and resulting objects window of a change task/note

When a person is reviewing a change task/notice, he has a table with the affected or resulting objects.

if there are multiple objects involved, the user must open each one of them seperatly by going to the details page of the item, and then click the viewable.

If you click left instead of right, your details page of the change task/notice you are reviewing is changed to the details page of the element itself. this way, you loose track of what you are reviewing.

  • first of all, you should have the thumbnail view in the resulting and affected objects
  • you should be able to open 2 or more viewables at once with creo view as well (like you can in your hotlinks)
  • you sould also be able to pin down the affected /resulting objects to the navigator. This allows you to have a behaviour like the search result, where you can go back to what you have done, without the need of opening serveral other windows/tabs. It would be great if you could pin down any table to the navigator, so you can return to it quickly. But it's absolutaly necessary for the affected /resulting objects, since after you viewed them all, you need to take action for the change notice./task

at all means, the user shouldn't need to leave the page of the resulting objects in order to review them.

If you use the middle mouse wheel/button in Internet Explorer then the link will open is a separate tab and leave the original.

yves wyffels‌,

Thumbnail navigator in Affected & Resulting as of 11.0 M020 per Jeffrey Zemsky‌: Ability to include thumbnail navigation in promotion objects table

There is also a pre-existing idea for opening viewables from Affected/Resulting Objects tables (Billy Goettler‌ only beat you by 5 days).

I don't understand your idea about pinning.  But I agree with Steve Galayda‌‌‌... you can middle-click on hyperlinks to open objects in new tabs so you don't lose where you are.

Yves,

I'm going to close this idea out based upon the feedback below, noting that we should in the future add the ability to multiple select and add to Creoview in one action.

Some notes -

With 10.2 M030 we added the Native Task Templates which allows you to configure the Affected/Resulting/Change Summary and other tables right into your Workflow Activities reducing the need to navigate away from your Workflow Activity to get your work done. (You can also add PBO attributes, actions and other tables purely through configuration)

1) Thumbnails are available to configure into Affected, Resulting and Change Summary tables with 11.0 M020.  Note you have to configure them into your Info Page Table views as we cannot update views in an MOR

2. While we cannot yet multi-select to launch to a single CreoView session we can launch multiple to a session one at a time.

3.  As Steve and Ben noted - one can click on the Info link with either the middle mouse button or shift-right click (and select Open link in New Window) to get the Info pages open on separate Tabs without losing your context.

Hi Jeffrey and Steve,

you are right, if you middle click your mouse, you can get a new window open. But this is anoying, and if you "forget" the middle click, you brouwse away from the work you are doing. wizz kids probably don't need this, but a lot of companies have people who are less computer minded.

The opening of the viewable is probably the best work around, since this doesn't browse away from the summarized work you are working on.

 Jeff,

The link to the video as mentioned in bullet #2 on your reply takes me to the community homepage. Would you happen to have an updated link? Thanks. Nadeem
