Loading symbol when applying option filter to structure

Loading symbol when applying option filter to structure

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
The company I work for Automotive industry. My role can be described as an internal IT consultant. Approx. 2000 users from configuration management, engineering to production are using Windchill.

2. What version of Windchill are you currently running?
11.2.1.10

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
When a user applies an option filter to a structure there should be a loading symbol all the time or the view should be kind of blocked until the filter is applied. Actually there is a symbol appearing in the upper right but it takes up to one minute till this symbol appears. So when clicking on a predefined option filter and nothing happens the user gets confused, reloads window or applies option filter twice. See attached video.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

sorry for reducing the structure that much, but its productive data 🙂

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
The effect of this behaviour cannot be defined in numbers. As we are using big structures I still think the users would feel more confident when applying a filter.

@mkiefer with Windchill 12.0.0.0 we introduced the Current Filter Toolbar in PSB.  The current filter toolbar will give indications if any of the following are active: The Config Spec (primary - first on the list), Choices, Attributes, Spatial and Path Filter.  They will also provide a quick access to each of those to see or make updates.

I suspect that this will address your idea

Hello @JeffZemsky ,

thank you for your response! Looks way better than the actual toolbar. Will it also show the active filter right after selecting a filter? The issue we have is, that it takes a while between selecting a filter and the filtering itself. This has improved a lot but as you can see in the video it still takes enough time to get the user confused. He/she selects the filter again/ refreshes the page etc. not knowing that the filtering process is already running in the backround. So a loading symbol right after clicking on a filter would help to see that the system is already doing something.

Hello @JeffZemsky ,

I am waiting for your response concerning @mkiefer's last message.

The solution you proposed is not helping in the aspect of progress to filter activation.

Thank you in advance and best regards

Christoph
