When English Operation & Maintenance Manual (Operator Manual) is set to Production life cycle state Windchill should automatically do a check to see if previous revision has been translated into other languages and if it has automatically create translation package for those languages and send a notification to Translation program manager to let them know translation package has been created. Operation & Maintenance Manuals are a legal requirement and the manual needs to be shipped with the machine into their country of destination. If not there it will be held in custom until manual is provided. By providing this functionality we can then have our translation management pool 'pick up' the translation package and have it processed ready to be sent out to external vendor. The end goal for our translation group is to have as few touch points as possible to localized files.
Over the past 4 years the average of manuals translated have been 4000 manuals but expected to be approx. ~5000. One reason of the increase is that more and more countries around the world are following the European law and regulations by making it a legal required document before product can pass thru customs.
