Localized Service Manual - Automatic kickoff for predefined NPI Languages

Localized Service Manual - Automatic kickoff for predefined NPI Languages

When English Service Manuals and/or Parts Manuals are set to Production life cycle state they will be automatically submitted for translations via workflow to predefined languages. For example. Caterpillar currently translate Service Manuals into the following languages; Simplified Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese pt-br, Russian & Spanish es-xl so when English manual is set to production state it should automatically kick off the process to have translation work packages created for the defined languages.

A requirement should also allow for an Admin to relatively easy Enable and/or Disable this functionality. This is needed when there is a downturn in business and we need to manage cost. As Operation & Maintenance Manuals (Operator Manuals) Service Manuals are not legally required to deliver with the machine when sold in a country.

This is a use case currently on our future roadmap. This function has also been requested by other customers. So it's good to see CAT's use case to also take into account.

Pushpinder good to know that we are aligned with functionality that other customers would like to see.

I agree it is related, but wasn't sure how you would address this specific use case. Please let me know if you think I should combine any of them.

The business logic for which publications should be translated to which languages (and under which circumstances) might differ considerably between different customers.  We believe that this can be implemented by GS and we do not have plans to implement it in the product.
