MAPSB: Multi select in Visualization using “box”

MAPSB: Multi select in Visualization using “box”

MAPSB: Multi select in Visualization using “box” does not select rows in structure.
Hard for user to pick part by part with Ctrl+Mouse, much quicker to ”box” parts.

See attached PowerPoint.

Hi,

Have encountered similar problems during M-BoM build in MAPSB and had it reported to PTC.

Solution provided was to use the best practice approach of select the items/components in the Design View Visualization Pane and then click COPY icon and then assign the copied items/components to necessary operation on the Manufacturing View Pane.MAPSB_Copy and Paste functionality.pngRegards...!!!

There is (of course) a workaround. Very suitable for like many bolts in occurrence mode.

  1. Select items with windows box
  2. Press: view only selected
  3. Select items with windows box again
  4. Press: Edit Path Filter in graphichs window
  5. Now only selected should be shown in list
  6. Select in list with shift
  7. Do your action on the selected items
  8. Remember to disable filter and show all

EDIT: Sometimes it works even more simple:

  1. Select items with windows box
  2. Press: Edit Path Filter in graphichs window
  3. Now only selected should be shown in list in top window
  4. Select in list with Shift or Ctrl
  5. Do your action on the selected items
  6. If you want to split, you can press Occurrence mode. And then use #edit#Split Usage Link.
  7. Splits can even be done on 2 or more different items at the same time!!
  8. Remember to disable filter to show all and maybe untick Occurrence mode.

Another workaround if there is no “below buy”:

  1. Select all items in list
  2. With Ctrl deselect the “opposite items” with windows box in graphichs window.
  3. Observe that now the right items are selected in the list
  4. Ha ha!

Yet another workaround

Similar to the first one using Path Filter in graphics window. But easier:

  1. Select the wanted items with windows box
  2. Press: Select in tree (nothing seem to happen)
  3. Press: Edit Path Filter in graphichs window and OK
  4. Now only selected should be shown in list
  5. Select in list with shift
  6. Do your action on the selected items

Hello

Thanks a lot for your input.  We have delivered this feature.  In order for this to work, you need to enable Custom selection as shown below.  Then you should be able to multi-select as you have requested.

Thanks
