Make a Personal Purge Tool that Users can use

Make a Personal Purge Tool that Users can use

The catch with the current purge tool is that an Admin has to run it and the Admin didn't make the CAD data. The catch with the Delete command is that the whole dialog is littered with weird nonsense language and you can't easily run it on more than one object at once. I propose that within the boundaries of the ACL's the user should be able to execute a purge/archive in a simple way themselves without having to rely on admins to clear the storage or expand to pentabyte SANs in a couple of years. ProjectLink's purge function simplicity perhaps with a wizard in place with options such as 'purge parts without drawing relations, purge my stuff, purge this assembly and related' etc. Maybe the purge can be two stepped, the users flag the data as being purged and dissappears from the users point of view and then the admins can move the stuff off to cheaper archive systems later on.

this already exist on Purge Managment under Organization

can be scheduled once a day/week/month

can consider wt.part/cad/wt.docs older than, with certain lifecycle, on certain product/lib and all other options (trought Collection Queries)

the purge is avalabile in organization/site level, the level superior to product and libraries so is not avalabile to users to create or edit or run.

the purge on certain context and also specifical folders once scheduled will always run.

a common practice is to set a folder named "PURGE_ME", set the purge query only on this folder and purging scheduled each day.

schedule the purge after two hours after work usual close is suggested.

if users are very addicted to purge can make 4 purging operation (that use same purge collection query) and schedule to run each day but at different times with a 2 hours gap.

with this solution the user is satisfied because can control the purging action (better because he knows what can be purged).
