Multi CAD object check in comments from WGM

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

Heavy Industrial Machine design and manufacture - Windchill business administrator - over 11 cad designers who check in multiple items a day in bulk

2. What version of Windchill are you currently running?

WC12.0.2.3

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

When performing a check in from the WGM, it would good when performing a bulk check in of assemblies and CAD parts, to be able to put a custom check in comments against each item.

Image CI1 shows currently both objects get the same check in comment. CI2 shows that the check in dialog box only has one comment box for all the objects - this is good if the comment is common for all objects.  CI3 proposes an idea to add an inline comment box if you choose to use it, to overwrite the general comment with a more object specific comment.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

bulk check in from wgm, to improve comment efficiency and accuracy - improve looking back over history and working out what was done to designs

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Gain more value from the comments and not have blank generic comments or comments against items that don't make sense.  This also allows to check in in bulk instead of checking in each item separately to gain a unique comment.

Hello,

Thank you for your idea and the information you provided. Still, if I may, this is very minimal.

I invite you to check out this topic where 2 PTC executives explain product managers' approach to customer ideas and input for product roadmaps. The more details and context you give to build a better case, the better.
