The name attribute is for all the object types a master attribute. Many companies having different development locations. Not every engineer is able to do some translations. The customization guide for 10.2 contains a chapter which explains to have the name field as a global enumeration. This isn't perfect but would be a beginning if this would work. The PTC support explained that this feature was cancelled and is not available https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/spr.jsp?n=2238288 It will be deleted from the guide.
My idea is not to use the standard enumeration. The system needs also to support languages which are not installed or not available for Windchill. It would be better to have different attributes that the user is able to see the different languages on the info page. And it would be perfect if you can also connect to a translation database.
Further it would be great if the solution also supports the WTPart product structure builder. To insert a WTPart it's only possible with number and name. This must be also available for the different languages. If this is a user preference or a table column doesn't matter.
The following idea is a customization I did. Unfortunately it's not perfect because multiple edit isn't supported because the wizard is being created with a different technic. We need a solution which works for CAD, Document and WTParts. All the different wizards need to be able to handle this.
