Naming rules for NEW workspace in PDM

Naming rules for NEW workspace in PDM

When a user creates a workspace with the name with DOT “.”  (Example 0850.TEST in text column), the workspace can't be activated for saving a new part and we have the below error message.

However, the users are not warned when they add a DOT to the name, they can still succeed in creating such a workspace, and only find issues / error message later – possibly this is a bug?
besides DOT, is there any other symbols that are not allowed in a workspace name ?

Here are some threads form PTC :
https://support.ptc.com/help/wnc/r11.2.0.0/en/index.html#page/Windchill_Help_Center/ObjectOviewSpeci...

The PTC article also suggests the same  CS150655 & CS114668 - If a Workspace Name Contains "&", "." or "," characters, the Workspace Cannot be Deleted nor Objects Uploaded to the Commonspace.
So please investigate if the DOT is not allowed, why the warning doesn't pop up while creating the workspace.
If the DOT is allowed, why the Workspace doesn't get activated?

In my company we had recently the same discussion around forbidden characters for Workspaces but not only. PLM is more and more connected to other external applications like ERPs (SAP, Oracle) and for that we have given some internal rules to restrict some characters to avoid such issues. This is applicable for workspaces, cotainer, numbers, names and some shared attributes.
