Need ability to Create Windchill Templates with the Required Attributes not set to a default value

Need ability to Create Windchill Templates with the Required Attributes not set to a default value

On behalf of Raytheon Australia.

Via the User Interface, the Windchill OOTB any new object template wizard requires all the Required attributes to be entered with values before creating the Template.
Then, when the Template is used to create a the real object the Required attributes on the wizard are populated with the default values in the Template.
This means the User can skip evaluating the value of these Attributes, and the new object can be created with values for the Required attributes which are not consistent with the object being created.

However, when creating these Templates using Load files, it is possible to create the templates with no values in the Required attributes, hence forcing the User to enter the appropriate value in these attributes, before creating the new object.
This is the behaviour we want with the new Template wizard also.

We also think that this should be an OOTB behaviour, or at least a Configurable feature.

This behaviour should be provided for all Template types, e.g. WTDocuments, CAD Objects, etc...

I removed all the required property in the Type and Attribute Manager, created the template and added the properties again.

I know silly...

Hi,

The problem is that some of the customer's container managers need to create those templates, so this become impractical.

Still, appreciate your recommendation.

This is not a recommendation, rather a work around, since it's not possible to have the required attributes set to an empty value....

you need to load the template from file or use the workaround like Brjörn answered - turn constraint off and on again - which works quite slick with the enable checkbox
