Need criteria in advanced search to return objects ONLY if criteria matches with the latest revision

Advanced Search returns older revision of the object for matching criteria. Selecting "Latest" revision in advanced search doesn't help. How to do a search so that it returns results ONLY if criteria matches with the latest revision of the object (document or part)? I opened a case with Technical support (Case# 13408122) but could not get any resolution. PTC Technical Support tried do it using various ways, including a QML report, but was unsuccessful. PTC support also discussed this use case with Tech Lead and found there is no such OOTB way to achieve this requirement. Also refer Article - CS157314.
