Need to add Prototype WTpart has reference to Regular Part type

I create a "D- Development" type parts for Prototype and complete all the testings and create regular "P-Production"  part for the same using save as from the prototype part.

In this case, We need to add the prototype part has reference part with the "P-Production"  part for future reference.

1. First I'd ask if these can be states as the parts mature rather than different part types
2. If these need to be different Part Types I'd recommend to use a Configurable Link which you can configure and use today.
